Operations Manager
Location: Baltimore, MD
Start Date: Immediate
Compensation: $70,000 - $90,000, commensurate with experience
About the role:
We’re hiring an Operations Manager who can wear many hats and thrive in the fast-paced, ever-changing world of a technology startup. At Visilant, our mission is to expand access to sight-saving eye care through smartphone-based imaging and AI. You’ll keep our engine running by supporting legal and compliance matters, coordinating with our accounting team, supporting manufacturing, working with hospital partners in India, building budgets, tracking funders, and onboarding new team members. If you’re motivated by improving healthcare globally and excited to step into a high leverage role to deliver life-changing technology to patients, this role is for you.
Who You Are
You love creating organization out of chaos.
You thrive on to-do lists (and check them twice).
You’re equally comfortable diving into spreadsheets, reviewing a contract, or polishing a fundraising deck.
You get energy from making sure things run smoothly behind the scenes.
You’re mission-driven and excited to help scale access to sight-saving care globally.
Key Responsibilities
Internal Operations & Strategy
Build internal processes to streamline cross-team communication and project management.
Support leadership in fundraising activities (grant applications, investor updates, donor reporting, sending decks, and follow-up materials).
Support recruitment, onboarding, and HR processes for a growing team.
Build and manage budgets, forecasts, and financial models.
Manage organizational compliance and legal processes, ensuring contracts, policies, and reporting are kept up to date.
Act as a generalist problem-solver, filling in gaps across finance, HR, compliance, legal, and operations.
Manufacturing & Supply Chain
Manage relationships with contract manufacturers and suppliers.
Oversee production timelines, quality control, and logistics.
Optimize procurement, inventory, and distribution processes.
Partnerships & Program Implementation
Coordinate with partner hospitals and clinics in India to expand pilot and deployment programs.
Ensure smooth implementation of hardware and AI solutions in clinical settings.
Track and report on program outcomes and operational metrics.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, public health, or related field.
3+ years of experience in operations, program management, or generalist roles (preferably in healthcare, medtech, or non-profit).
Strong organizational, project management, and problem-solving skills.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, resource-constrained environment.
Excellent communication skills and cultural awareness for working across international teams.
Proficiency with productivity tools (e.g., Google Workspace, project management software).
Preferred Qualifications
Familiarity with grant writing, fundraising, or working with donors/investors.
Prior experience in a startup or non-profit environment.
Background in medical devices, digital health, or healthcare delivery in emerging markets.
Experience with contract manufacturing and/or supply chain management.
Exposure to intellectual property (IP) strategy or patent filings.
Advanced degree (MBA, MPH, MS, etc.).
