The Role
We are hiring a hands-on, product-minded software engineering lead to be one of the defining early developers at Visilant. This role combines software engineering with strategic decision-making: you will write production code, drive architecture for a multi-platform healthcare system, and shape how our technology scales to millions of patients.
You’ll partner with the leadership team to shape the technical roadmap, lead FHIR/EMR integrations, and build core AI, mobile, and cloud infrastructure powering Visilant’s screening platform.If you want to own meaningful architecture from day one, build systems that directly impact health outcomes, and play a foundational role in a product’s trajectory, this is that role.
Key Responsibilities
Hands-On Software Engineering
Write maintainable, production-quality code across backend, mobile, and cloud services.
Lead integration with hospital systems, including FHIR and EMR systems.
Build and refine the mobile app for field workers, technicians, and ophthalmologists to capture, upload, and review patient data.
Implement analytics dashboards for partner hospitals to track screening volume, outcomes, and system performance.
Ensure secure patient data management, including HIPAA/GDPR compliance.
Support quality management system (QMS) documentation consistent with ISO 13485 and IEC 62304 software lifecycle standards.
Technical Strategy
Define and execute the technical roadmap to support scale, reliability, and innovation.
Lead architecture decisions for a platform that integrates mobile, AI, and cloud components.
Team Building & Management
Build and oversee a high-performing development team.
Establish engineering workflows, QA processes, and agile development practices.
Systems Scalability & Reliability
Build scalable infrastructure to support screening and triage of millions of patients.
Ensure uptime, data integrity, and secure, low-latency telemedicine operations in low-connectivity environments.
Ideal Candidate Profile
Technical Expertise
5+ years of experience in software engineering, with a strong track record of technical leadership and architectural decision-making.
Deep experience in designing and scaling distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, and backend services that are secure, reliable, and maintainable.
Demonstrated success in systems integration, including APIs, data pipelines, and connecting with third-party platforms (e.g., EMRs, FHIR).
